Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably at least heard of Channel Four's new hit show Virgin Island, which introduces 12 adult virgins to sex and intimacy on a remote island.
As crazy as that might sound, it's actually proven quite wholesome as it encourages the contestants to love themselves and open up to the concept of a sexual relationship, with the help of sex therapists and sex surrogates on the show.
Viewers had already been left stunned after seeing a fair few of the virgins get their kit off in episode three, which would certainly make going back to the office interesting now that the show has concluded.
Although the surrogates are there to guide the sexually shy adults, the focus has largely been on building an emotional connection and working slowly towards more physical acts. And despite the praise, it's also received a fair share of criticism since first airing.
So, it was a surprise when 28-year-old delivery driver Zac was paired up in the tent with sex surrogate Kat and he delivered a comment which left her, and nearly everyone watching, feeling particularly uncomfortable.
He said: “I came in here confident and excited, and I don’t know if you’re as used to that in this line of work and I don’t know if you find that intimidating.”
Unsurprisingly, she was quick to end the session, but he wasn't able at first to realise the line he had crossed, and why using the word intimidating should perhaps never be used in that scenario.
However, in a session with Kat and clinical therapist Abby, Zac was able to open up about his struggles and repair things with his surrogate partner.
After being invited to speak by Abby, he said: "So I left our session last night feeling very confused. It's not like I felt I did anything wrong but I felt like maybe I might have made you uncomfortable and I'm sorry if that's the case."
Kat responded: "That's what it was, saying I felt intimidated by it. That was definitely the point for me where the door closed."
He apologised for his actions, saying: "I'm sorry that my words did that. I was trying to figure out what was going on inside your head, but I'm not a mind reader."
Kat then hit back, saying: "I wasn't expecting you to be a mind reader. I was telling you what was going on and I felt like instead of meeting that vulnerability with vulnerability, you met it with blame."
Zac then became visibly upset and emotional, with Kat putting her hand on his knee for support, as he opened up on his feelings with the surrogate and the therapist.
He added: "I find it hard to trust others emotionally, and be vulnerable. That's something I can't do."
The therapist said: "Can I challenge your language there. It's something you can do. I think it's okay to work with Kat building that muscle. She's willing to meet you in your humanity and your vulnerability and your fear because that's what a partnership is."
Zac concluded: "Thank you. I want to be more vulnerable. I want to share that with you. I want that connection."
Virgin Island is available to stream on Channel Four now, and the final episode is on at 10pm tonight.
