The CEO of an artificial intelligence company has revealed which specific jobs are said to be most at risk of being replaced due to the increased presence of AI.
There's no doubt the rise of AI has been incredible, so there's a mixture of excitement but also nerves as to where AI could be in, say, 20 years' time.
Many famous figures have spoken about AI; both Stephen Hawking and Bill Gates have shared warnings regarding it, while people like Elon Musk are already using it within their businesses.
Gates, in particular, has spoken about how the future of AI could be very damaging.
Speaking on the Jimmy Fallon Show earlier this year, the Microsoft founder said: "The era that we're just starting is that intelligence is rare, you know, a great doctor, a great teacher. And with AI, over the next decade, that will become free and commonplace. Great medical advice, great tutoring."
Gates added: "And it's profound because it solves all these specific problems, like we don't have enough doctors or mental health professionals, but it brings with it so much change."
And now, CEO of AI company Anthropic Dario Amodei has now warned 50 percent of entry-level white-collar jobs could be eliminated within the next five years due to the rise of AI.
"We, as the producers of this technology, have a duty and an obligation to be honest about what is coming," the CEO told Axios.
"Most of them are unaware that this is about to happen. It sounds crazy, and people just don't believe it."
Examples of white-collar jobs include publicists, market researchers, and copywriters - aka office jobs.
As for Gates, while he has expressed his worries with AI, he's previously admitted to using the tech.
Speaking in an interview with Dax Shepard on the Armchair Expert podcast, Gates said: "I'm using it all the time and saying, 'Okay, no, it's not good enough for this — but wow, it is good enough for that.'
“If it's a problem that humans are not good at dealing with, then present techniques don't create some novel approach."
The tech guru also said he doesn't believe in the sentiment that AI cannot make mistakes.
He added: "It doesn't know to check its answer. A Sudoku puzzle, you have to do a lot of recursive reasoning and it doesn't know to take extra time."
Gates has also previously spoken about the only three jobs he believes will survive AI taking over workplaces.
Whatever the future may hold, there's no doubt where AI goes from here is an interesting one.
