Clarkson’s Farm fans have begun wondering whether Jeremy Clarkson actually works on Diddly Squat farm when the cameras aren’t rolling.
The show revolves around Clarkson taking over the management of a farm he bought back in 2008 following the retirement of the former farm manager in 2019.
Season four, which came out last week, sees the former Top Gear presenter being forced to bring in temporary help when Kaleb Cooper, who helps Clarkson run the farm, went away on a speaking tour.
Clarkson was forced to bring in Harriet Cowan, a young nurse and farmhand, to help him with the running of Diddly Squat farm whilst Cooper was away.
This has led many, including Kaleb Cooper, to question how he is unable to still run the farm by himself by now, which may lead some viewers to ask if it’s just for the cameras.
One fan took to Reddit to ask this very question, posting: “This has probably been asked and answered a million times, but does Clarkson actually work on the farm when they’re not filming or does he have employees who do the work?
“I know he does grand tour stuff from time to time, so I assume this is his «main» job now?”
The answer, which many fans took to reddit to answer, is that he does indeed work on the farm even when cameras aren’t following him.
Whilst he does have other commitments, such as hosting Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Clarkson works on the farm even when cameras are off.
One fan posted a comment saying: “Saw him rageposting on twitter or insta about pilots flying over his fields while he was out working with no film crew was around.”
Clarkson’s social media is full of proof that he is working on the farm throughout the year, such as his post just two weeks ago on Instagram in which he revealed that Pepper, the farm’s cow, has had another baby.
Others posted to his Instagram show the presenter complaining about this year’s drought which has affected farmers nationwide, posting videos which make clear he is working on the farm.
This, of course, does not mean that he is not getting any help whatsoever.
Whilst not confirmed, many have suggested that it is likely that in addition to Clarkson and Harriet/Kaleb it is likely that the 1,000-acre farm employs some staff.
One comment said: "Two separate questions there really. Does he work on the farm? Does he have employees do the work? It's probably both."
The comment went on to point out that he was 65 years old, not an experienced farmer and that he ‘hosts a popular quiz TV show, writes multiple columns and opinion pieces, manages a business empire that includes a pub and shop and produces the show we all watch, with all the workload that entails.’
They went on to add: "It's pretty implausible that he's not getting quite a lot of help that doesn't make it onto camera if that is a working farm."
